Michael Frederik Sorensen is an author, researcher, collector, artist, and entrepreneur whose work spans fiction, collectibles, comic book preservation, historical research, and original artwork.

For more than two decades, Michael has worked as a private research consultant, specializing in collectibles, historical documentation, market analysis, and investigative research. His passion for preserving history and uncovering overlooked details has led him into a wide variety of creative and professional pursuits, all of which are brought together under the KaptainMyke brand.

Michael is best known in the comic book hobby as the creator of Comic Book CPR, one of the earliest publicly available educational resources dedicated to comic book pressing, cleaning, stain removal, and restoration-free conservation techniques. In 2016, he published one of the first comprehensive online guides explaining comic book pressing methods to collectors around the world. That work eventually evolved into the Comic Book CPR book series, which has helped thousands of collectors better understand comic book preservation and grading preparation.

A lifelong collector, Michael maintains an extensive personal collection that includes thousands of comic books, trading cards, vintage toys, movie memorabilia, records, and other collectibles. He specializes in Golden Age and Silver Age comic books, EC Comics, pre-code horror comics, vintage Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles toys produced by Playmates Toys from 1988–1998, trading cards, and other historically significant collectibles.

Beyond nonfiction, Michael is also a novelist and storyteller. His fiction projects explore crime, horror, mystery, folklore, and the supernatural. Recent works include The Mojito Brothers from Toledo crime trilogy, Rose Hall: A Haunting Inspired by Real Events, and Brumbelow Road, a Southern horror novel inspired by Arkansas folklore and regional legends. His stories often blend detailed research, strong character development, and atmospheric settings to create immersive reading experiences.

Outside of writing, Michael is an accomplished oil painter and artist whose work ranges from landscapes and wildlife to horror-inspired and pop-culture subjects. Many of his original paintings and creative projects are featured throughout this website.
